POGO statement regarding the Outer Continental Shelf Safety Oversight Board report and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) Plan of Implementation in response.

"The Outer Continental Shelf Safety Oversight Board has found that Interior's oversight of offshore drilling has been crippled by a bullying industry and that BOEMRE lacks the resources it needs to do its job. The reforms proposed in BOEMRE's implementation plan do not go far enough to address the depth and serious nature of the Safety Oversight Board's findings."

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms. POGO’s investigations into corruption, misconduct, and conflicts of interest achieve a more effective, accountable, open, and ethical federal government.
