Jon Stewart Tears Into "Criminal" VA Backlog
TweetMarch 28, 2013
On Wednesday’s episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart decried the extremely long wait times veterans are facing for their disability claims and medical appointments despite an increase in funding to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
This echoes a blog post written last week by the Project On Government Oversight’s David Hilzenrath that said the VA was altering appointment data to obscure delay times.
One of the major factors in the long wait times is that the systems the Department of Defense and the VA use to track wounded veterans are unable to communicate with each other, which causes veterans to have to fill out huge volumes of paper forms.
