GAO Slams Air Force’s A-10 Divestment Plan


The Government Accountability Office issued a preliminary report that challenges the Air Force’s long-held desire to mothball the venerable A-10. The GAO calls into question the Air Force’s claims that cancelling the program is the best way to free funds in its budget. The report also bolster’s the arguments being made by close air support advocates—including pilots and specialists on the ground—that the A-10 is the only capable platform in the Air Force’s inventory to fill this critical capability.
