Beyond the Headlines
In 1997, we created the Beyond the Headlines Award* to honor citizen activists, journalists, civil servants, and military personnel who have gone beyond gaining headline attention to positively influencing public policy. This award differs from the Good Government Award, which was designed to honor a lifetime of work and will typically be given to someone who is retiring from public service, and the Bi-Partisan Leadership Award, which was created to recognize Members of Congress and other leaders who work together across the aisle to promote a more open, honest, and accountable government.
In the spirit of our mission, this award recognizes individuals who work toward permanent remedies for systemic waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. * This award is not monetary. The Project On Government Oversight's "Beyond the Headlines" Award Winners:
