POGO’s Position Regarding Current Air Force Tanker Contract Award
For Immediate Release
Contact: Marthena Cowart (202) 347-1122

POGO has received inquiries regarding any involvement it may have in the current Air Force tanker contract award. POGO is not working with any party to the contract, is not receiving any funding from anyone with a financial interest in the contract1, nor is POGO seeking to alter or preserve the contract award. POGO believes the Congress should exercise vigorous oversight of contracting processes, including the tanker contract, but should not interfere with or direct the decision regarding which company receives a government contract. A bid protest has been filed with the Government Accountability Office, and POGO looks forward to the results. As always, if the GAO finds any misconduct -- or if any other such evidence surfaces -- POGO would shed light on the problems and work to correct them. As of now, POGO is not aware of any such evidence.

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is an independent nonprofit that investigates and exposes corruption in order to achieve a more accountable federal government.
