According to a document released by POGO today, Beth Daley, Director of Investigations noted, “Johnnie Burton’s leadership at the agency was defined by repeated instances of capitulating to industry interests at the expense of taxpayers and Native American tribes.” Ms. Burton’s own state of The handling of the Fina case parallels MMS’ decision not to pursue natural gas royalties owed by Chevron Corporation, which was featured in an October, 2006 New York Times article.
