About POGO

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight is an independent nonprofit that investigates and exposes corruption and other misconduct in order to achieve a more accountable federal government.

At a time when our government is more secretive, POGO conducts in-depth investigations to shed light on government activities and create opportunities for vigorous public debate. POGO does so by taking on broad-scale, intractable problems which harm the nation but which would go unaddressed without an aggressive journalistic approach.

About the National Security Investigator

POGO’s National Security Investigator is the eyes, ears, and face of the organization’s National Security Investigations. This person conducts investigations and writes reports, alerts, and other publications on corruption and other misconduct concerning military programs and weapons systems. POGO’s National Security Investigator develops and maintains contact with a network of congressional staff, government officials, investigators and auditors, allied organizations, and whistleblowers to identify possible instances of corruption and other misconduct. This person is responsible for engaging in follow-up strategies in order to implement POGO’s policy recommendations. This may include testifying before congressional committees and federal agencies, disseminating information to and enlisting the support of Congress, executive branch staff, and allied organizations.

Working knowledge of National Security issues preferred.
