Defense Working Out Contractor Conflict Kinks

Yesterday, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) submitted a public comment generally supporting the proposed rule to strengthen Department of Defense (DoD) regulations aimed at minimizing contractor conflicts of interest.

POGO also made recommendations for improving the proposed rule. "The proposal still needs increased oversight and accountability measures," said POGO's General Counsel Scott Amey.

"DoD was on notice that its organizational conflict regulations were inadequate and it has taken action to reduce those conflicts," states Amey. "This move will hopefully reduce biased decisions and level the playing field. The current situation works against the public interest."

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is an independent nonprofit that investigates and exposes corruption and other misconduct in order to achieve a more effective, accountable, open, and ethical federal government.
