POGO Praises Secretary Gates For Courage; Urges Congress To Follow His Example

April 6, 2009

"The Project On Government Oversight applauds Secretary Gates for having the courage to end production of the F-22 fighter jet and to significantly scale back and restructure the Future Combat Systems.  But we hope that the decision to increase procurement of the F-35 includes increased testing and introducing discipline to the program.  Now it is up to Congress to heed Gates's call to place security needs over parochial interests."

Statement by Danielle Brian, Executive Director, Project On Government Oversight

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms. POGO's investigations into corruption, misconduct, and conflicts of interest achieve a more effective, accountable, open, and ethical federal government.
