POGO Supports DOD Financial Accountability Act Of 2009

It is only fitting at a time when we are calling for increased fiscal responsibility from companies that we demand the same from the Department of Defense. POGO commends U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Dr. Tom Coburn (R-OK), and Charles Grassley (R-IA) for introducing today the Department of Defense Financial Accountability Act of 2009, which sets firm deadlines for the Department of Defense to undergo a complete audit of its financial statements.
This legislation will provide a check and balance on the Pentagon's spending policies and practices. Taxpayers deserve the assurance that the nearly $400 billion contracted out in FY2008 was properly administered and managed.
