POGO applauds Representative Rahall for holding BP accountable

June 3, 2010

In response to the Wall Street Journal's recent article, "Rep. Rahall Seeks Damages for Revenue Lost to Oil Spill," POGO Executive Director Danielle Brian commented:

"POGO applauds Representative Rahall for holding BP accountable for royalties lost from the oil leaking into the Gulf. We're glad someone is standing up to big oil on behalf of the taxpayers. In addition to the environmental and economic devastation caused by this tragedy, one of the largest sources of revenue for the federal government is being lost."

Founded in 1981, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms. POGO's investigations into corruption, misconduct, and conflicts of interest achieve a more effective, accountable, open, and ethical federal government.
