Still More on Our Ethically Challenged Generals

Politico alerted me this morning to a piece in Huffington Post describing a new report on the revolving door (double-dealing) problem with what Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW) in Washington calculates to be 70 percent of America's retired generals. The Huffington summary of the report is here; as is an elderly, but significant GAO report from 2008.

This past Sunday, the Washington Post described the appalling splendor that our four stars permit themselves to be bathed in from fawning sectors of the public and government; the article was quite significant, I believe, but it failed to address the extremely important post-retirement behavior of these ethically apathetic people. That behavior is addressed in this new CREW report, but also see an extraordinarily article on it all written in 2010 by Bryan Bender of the Boston Globe.

These behaviors need to be changed.
