Issue: New rules in India that may adversely impact U.S. registered companies. The rules were issued on March 19, 2008. The new rules concern margin requirements for equity trades by institutional investors to post margin with entities that would not be eligible custodians under the Investment Company Act of 1940. As a consequence, U.S. registered investment companies may require relief from certain provisions of the Act.
