Ned Feder, M.D.
Staff Scientist
Ned Feder joined POGO as Staff Scientist in September 2006. Before that, Ned worked at the National Institutes of Health doing basic research in cell biology.
In the mid-1980s, Ned and an NIH colleague studied and wrote articles about misconduct among biomedical researchers. They found that violations of ethical standards were more common than had generally been recognized. Their controversial observations drew attention in the federal government, academia, and the press.
After joining POGO, Ned examined and wrote about problems in the Food and Drug Administration and questionable research practices at the NIH. He also wrote and spoke about deficiencies in the federal government’s preparations for a flu pandemic.
Ned received an M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School in 1953 and was on the faculty of the Harvard Biology Department from 1961 to 1967.
