Brandon Brockmyer is the Director of Investigations and Research at POGO. He oversees a team of investigators, journalists, and researchers who work to identify government waste, corruption, and abuse, safeguard constitutional principles, and explore emerging trends in good governance and anticorruption. Brandon also manages POGO's FOIA program and oversees the organization's editorial and fact-checking process.

Brandon is an expert on government transparency and accountability, with over a decade of experience monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of government policies and social programs. He has been a featured speaker at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Transparency & Accountability Initiative and served on the World Bank’s Global Partnership for Social Accountability roster of experts.

Prior to joining POGO, Brandon worked as research director for the New Venture Fund’s Western Values Project, where he oversaw investigations into public lands accountability that appeared in national media outlets including TheWashington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. Until 2018, Brandon served as research director for the US government watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).

In 2016, Brandon helped to establish the Accountability Research Center, an action-research incubator that aims to improve the organizational effectiveness of civil society partners and inform agenda-setting within the global transparency, participation, and accountability field. Prior to that, Brandon served as a research officer for the Pew Charitable Trusts.

Brandon holds a PhD in International Relations from American University, an MA in Psychology from New York University, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Reed College. He lives in Maryland with his wife, daughter, and cat.
