Jarvis Williams is POGO’s racial equity and accountability strategist, and the coalition manager for Open The Government. Jarvis identifies opportunities to advance racial equity within institutions and creates strategies to achieve meaningful racial equity outcomes. He builds coalition capacity, participates in policy development, and advocates for institutions and organizations to intentionally develop accountability strategies that will advance racial equity outcomes.

Jarvis is an established leader within communities advocating for critical government oversight. He has served in several positions designed to strategically advance racial equity. Prior to joining POGO, Jarvis worked as a senior pastor, public issue campaign strategist, adjunct professor, program evaluator, public speaker, and policy consultant. He has given many talks on strategies for advancing racial equity within academic institutions, religious institutions, Fortune 500 corporations, and government institutions. Jarvis holds a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies from Mississippi State University, a Master of Divinity degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center, a Master’s of Social Policy from Brandeis University, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Social Policy at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management.
