Captain Larry Meehan retired after a 31-year career in the U.S. Navy, having most recently served as director Middle East Division of the Navy International Programs Office from May 2018 to October 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile. In this role, Meehan was responsible for all foreign military sales programs for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard pertaining to the Middle East, with a focus on Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Shortly after leaving the Navy, Meehan joined lobbying and consulting firm The Roosevelt Group as a senior advisor leading the firm’s foreign military sales initiatives. Roosevelt Group’s clients have included Navy contractors Honeywell International, Tetra Tech, and SRC (formerly Syracuse Research Corporation).
“He has an exceptional understanding of the ways in which international partnerships, the policy-making process and our nation's most innovative companies combine to support our national security,” Roosevelt Group founder and managing partner John Simmons said in a press release announcing Meehan’s hiring. Federal ethics laws place restrictions on Meehan’s ability to lobby or appear before the Department of the Navy, but not his ability to work with countries or partners he worked with while in the government.
