Major General (Dr.) Lee Payne (USAF Ret.) most recently served as the coronavirus task force diagnostics and testing lead at the Department of Defense, leaving in May 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to this role, Payne also served as the Assistant Director for Combat Support at the Defense Health Agency. In this role, Payne supported the joint staff and combatant commands in public health, medical logistics and in readiness and emergency operations.
Within two months after leaving the Pentagon, Payne joined Deloitte Consulting, an international accounting and consulting firm, as a specialist executive in government and public service. Deloitte is a top 100 recipient from several Department of Defense agencies, including the Defense Health Agency. In fiscal year 2020, Deloitte received over $26.3 million from the Defense Health Agency.
