On August 17, 2020, defense contracting giant Jacobs Engineering Group announced that Brooks was appointed to serve on the company’s board of directors. Jacobs is a top 100 recipient of Department of Defense contracts, receiving over $1.3 billion in fiscal year 2020 alone.
In March 2020, the firm was selected by the Army Corps. of Engineers to design the new Korea Air Operations and Intelligence Center, a deal worth over $605 million. According to Jacobs, “the [center] will oversee air operations and distributed common ground station weapon systems supporting the U.S. Forces Korea and the U.S. and Korea Combined Forces Command.”
In September 2020, Brooks also became a principal at WestExec Advisors, a strategic consulting firm co-founded by former under secretary of defense for policy Michèle Flournoy. In announcing his hiring, WestExec said: “His proven record as a leader and change agent and his deep expertise on Asia and national security is proving to be extremely valuable to a variety of WestExec clients.”
Brooks did not respond to a POGO request for comment.
