Lieutenant General William Etter (USAF Ret.) served as the commander of the 1st Air Force North and Continental North American Command within the United States Air Force until his retirement on August 1, 2016. In that role, Etter “[was] responsible for the oversight of the 1,400 units and 56,000 volunteers of the Civil Air Patrol,” and oversaw “active air defense alert sites, including aircraft, air defense artillery, and 15,000 active duty National Guard.”
In August 2017, roughly a year after leaving the Pentagon, Etter joined The Roosevelt Group as a Senior Advisor. The Roosevelt Group is a lobbying firm “offering its skills and expertise in advocacy, consulting, business development, and strategic communications to clients in the defense, security and intelligence sectors.”
According to his biography, his areas of expertise for the firm include “cybersecurity risk and oversight, strategic planning, complex project design, and legislative engagement.
