A bill that would rectify the existing “labyrinthian process” for obtaining ethics documents like financial disclosures and agreements from executive branch officials — the Executive Branch Accountability and Transparency Act — passed through committee in the House. This is a big win: We’ve been advocating for a database like this one for years.
We submitted testimony to a hearing on the threats a reinstated Schedule F would pose to national security. Our Policy Analyst Joe Spielberger highlighted the important moments of the hearing and his takeaways on X.
Finally, we were thrilled hat a member of the House Armed Services Committee who has been a longtime champion and partner on the issue of Pentagon accountability asked defense industry witnesses some pointed questions about price gouging during a Monday hearing on Pentagon contracting.
This is progress on a diversity of issues, and we have horses in all these races, so to speak. We’re pleased to see the needle moving on important legislation, and will continue to be a part of important conversations.
