Wallace B. Jefferson Joins POGO’s Board of Directors

(WASHINGTON) — The Project On Government Oversight is pleased to announce that Wallace B. Jefferson has joined the organization’s board of directors.

Jefferson is a partner at Alexander Dubose & Jefferson. Before joining the law firm in 2013, he served as the chief justice of the Texas Supreme Court.

“We are thrilled that Wallace is joining the POGO board, bringing with him years of experience as the Texas Supreme Court chief justice,” said Nithi Vivatrat, chair of the Project On Government Oversight’s board of directors. “His ongoing commitment to ensuring a fair and impartial judiciary and to improving civic engagement in our democracy makes him a tremendous addition."

Jefferson will bring a unique perspective to the board with his extensive background in the justice system. Jefferson served on the Texas Supreme Court for more than 10 years, where he led efforts to fund access to justice programs and helped reform the juvenile justice system. He also served as a member of POGO’s Task Force on Federal Judicial Selection in 2021.

He has been honored with numerous awards acknowledging his esteemed career as a judge and member of the legal community, including the 2014 Texas Center for Legal Ethics Chief Justice Jack Pope Professionalism Award, acknowledging someone who personifies the highest standards of the legal profession; the 2014 Texas Appleseed J. Chrys Dougherty Good Apple Award, recognizing his leadership in seeking equality for all Texans; and the 2015 Anti-Defamation League Austin Jurisprudence Award, honoring someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the legal community.
