Demand that Congress Make it Safe for Contractors to Tell the Truth

Federal contractors play an important role in our everyday lives — from public safety and national security, to healthcare and pandemic responses, to environmental protection, transportation, disaster relief — and more. However, when employees of these companies witness and expose wrongdoing, they often face retaliation for blowing the whistle that can end their careers and destroy their lives.

The bipartisan Expanding Whistleblower Protections for Contractors Act would strengthen whistleblower protections for employees of federal contractors.

This bill would:

• Protect whistleblowers from retaliation when they refuse to break the law;
• Shield them from “blocklisting” (“blocklists” prevent whistleblowers from working for other contractors), retaliatory lawsuits, and criminal prosecutions; and
• Punish government actors who order contractors to retaliate against their own employees.
