Tell the Senate: Demand a Code of Conduct for the Supreme Court
Tell the Senate the Supreme Court must be held to higher standards.
The Supreme Court has long positioned itself as above the political fray, but recent revelations have shown that its lofty rhetoric does not match its actual conduct.
The mounting pile of ethics concerns have concerned our representatives, too. Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act, which would put in place an ethics code and tighten recusal and financial disclosure obligations: key measures for protecting the Court’s actual and perceived integrity and independence.
It’s unacceptable that our nation’s most powerful court is also its least accountable. The Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act is a step in the right direction for reinstating the public’s trust in this institution.
