Miah Ulysse

Vice President of Programs

Miah Ulysse (mee-yah you-liss-ee | she/her) is POGO’s vice president of programs, and plays a leadership role in the strategic planning and development of POGO’s programmatic work. Miah works with the executive team members and POGO’s programmatic teams to set and meet strategic goals. The teams include Civic Engagement, the Congressional Oversight Initiative, Investigations and Research, POGO’s racial equity work, and the Ridenhour Prizes.

Miah is a fierce justice advocate, facilitator, strategist, program innovator, and community connector with roots in Minnesota and Haiti. She has worked with nonprofits, cooperatives, and government agencies locally and nationally to develop and deliver innovative programming. She has advanced local, state, and federal policy efforts, including successfully lobbying for the funding and establishment of the Urban Agriculture Grant Program by the Minnesota Legislature, one of the first urban agriculture-specific state-funded grant programs in the country.

Most recently, Miah comes from Wilder Foundation where she provided leadership for the Community Equity Program, a nine month political leadership program for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community leaders to build the skills and relationships to lead effective policy change within the Minnesota state legislature and to reimagine new systems and ways of being that disengage systems of oppression.

In her spare time, Miah can be found getting her hands dirty in the garden, zooming around the cities on her bike, and unplugging by camping with her pups.
