Danni Downing is senior editor for the Project On Government Oversight. Danni first came to work for POGO as an intern in 1998; returned to POGO as a Research Assistant after graduation in 1999; and became an editor in 2002. She has led investigations into such issues as the independence of the Environmental Protection Agency’s national ombudsman, the lack of public access to Congressional Research Service products, and inadequate whistleblower protections. She also directed POGO’s congressional training program from 2010 until 2019. Danni earned a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in 1999. Before attending Dartmouth, she served in the U.S. Army on active duty from 1988 to 1991 and in the Reserves from 1991 to 1997.
