Good Government Groups Urge Congress to Remove Funding for More C-17s
The Project On Government Oversight and Taxpayers for Common Sense sent a letter to Congress today urging them to remove funding for the procurement of additional C-17 Airlifters, a program that the Pentagon has been trying to kill for over a decade.
"Defense Secretary Robert Gates and the Air Force agree that we have sufficient airlift capacity with our current fleet," the groups wrote.
They urged the Senate to support Senator McCain's amendment to strip the funding from the Defense Department Appropriations bill and end the practice of adding earmarks for this program with "reckless abandon."
