POGO to Congress: Prioritize Funding Good Government and Accountability Efforts

Every year, Congress appropriates funds to ensure that the United States government is fully equipped to keep our nation safe, secure, and strong. Lawmakers consider 12 appropriations bills in total, each corresponding to an individual subcommittee in the House and Senate. Since the appropriations process affects all federal programs, it presents a unique opportunity to prioritize good government and accountability efforts.

Several times, POGO has testified before Congress on how the appropriations process can help build a more efficient, transparent, and accountable federal government that works for all the people. POGO has also written to the chairs and ranking members of House and Senate subcommittees recommending reforms for inclusion in the appropriations bills and accompanying reports.
