Bio

Virginia Burger is a senior defense policy analyst for the Center for Defense Information at POGO. She assists the director of CDI in developing policies to make the U.S. Department of Defense more effective and less costly for the American taxpayer.

Prior to joining POGO, Virginia served for nine years as an active-duty U.S. Marine Corps officer. Her primary occupational specialty was communication strategy, with additional certifications as an information warfare planner. Virginia also served as a warfighting instructor at The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, teaching provisional infantry and combat skills to newly commissioned officers. While there, she earned the highly selective Master Instructor designation for her knowledge and teaching abilities.

Virginia has a Bachelor of Science in history and English with a minor in Russian language from the United States Naval Academy.
